It is optional upto 1.5 cr
above 1.5cr to 5cr HSN CODE WILL BE OF TWO DIGIT AND MANDATORY
AND ABOVE 5 CR IT WILL BE OF FOUR DIGIT AND MANDATORY

HSN CODE compulsory for GSTR-9 TAX LIABILITY part .... For f.y 21-22 

For f.y. 22-23 HSN code complsory for inward Itc also.
