ALCOHOL served in restaurants-subject to VAT or GST?

What needs to be levied- VAT or GST -on the alcohol served in restaurants .
I have no doubt that food items served will be subject to 5% rate but what about alcohol?

please guide

Alchohal is out of GST regime and vat is to be charged on Alchohal which is served in restaurants with respective rates applicable in the states
It is notable that alcoholic beverages still attract VAT, which is a state level tax, therefore restaurants serving both food and alcoholic beverages will feature separate taxes with GST being applicable to food and non-alcoholic beverages while VAT will be charged on alcoholic beverages served.

VAT is at first point only then why to levy again
