About the hra
govt servant paid 32400 to owner and take recipt.govt gives him Hra rs15424..his remain balance is rs 16976 which was less from his gross salary..is this correct

assesse can claim hra deduction lower of followin amts...
- amt of hra received
- excess rent paid of 10% salary
- 40% of salary (50% in metro cities)
thus u can claim exemption of hra of rs 15424.00 only. and no rent amount can be reduced from salary.
