PAYMENT OF PREMIUM FOR MEDI-CLAIM POLICY & POLCY CAN BE TAKEN IN THE NAME OF SELF, SPOUSE OR DEPENDENT CHILDERNS AND DEDUCTION IS ALLOWED EQUAL TO THE AMOUNT OF PREMIUM BUT MAXIMUM DEDUCTION IS ALLOWED RS. 15000. BUT IF THE POLICY CAN BE TAKEN IN THE NAME OF SENIOR CITIZEN DEDUCTION IS ALLOWED MAXIMUM RS. 20000.

ADDITIONAL DEDUCTION IS ALLOWED IF POLICY CAN BE TAKEN IN THE NAME OF PARENTS( DEPENDENT/INDEPENDENT) IS RS. 15000. BUT IS POLICY CAN BE TAKEN IN THE NAME OF SENOIR CITIZEN DEDUCTION IS ALLOWED RS. 20000 OR ACTUAL PREMIUM PAID WHICHEVER IS LOWER

SO IN BOTH THE CASES EXEMPTION IS ALLOWED RS. 25369

whole amount  i.e. Rs. 25639/- would be eligible as deduction u/s 80D for Mediclaim

One of our assessee purchased a mediclaim policy in foreign country. Is this a valid deduction under 80D.
