80% marks sould not be mandetory because in many states the marking style is not very good especilly in bihar and up, so the government sould rethink on this issue , the barries sould be age limit, not the marks limit.

so Mr. Sanjeev do you think that the old limit of 60% marks should continue??? Becoz if the marking style as you say is not good, then even this limit may not prove to correct. Then what should be the limit in such a case???
Not a Good Step..... 80%-85% is very High.
many student who cannot get good marks by many reasons even if he had a great knowledge. so IIT 70%-75%. is good. any one agree with me or not but i always with 70%-75% not morethan 75%
Think Deeply and decide i am right or wrong. If any ony one think that i am wrong. plz correct me.

Latest Update in this matter:
Retracting from his stand about raising the cut-off percentage for appearing in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) entrance
exam, union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal on Tuesday said that scoring high would not be a prerequisite.
"Any reports indicating that students would need to score above 80 percent for appearing in the joint entrance exams are baseless," Sibal told reporters.
Sibal had Monday stressed that the IIT admission procedures "should give more weightage to Class 12 exam marks," as well as consider raising the existing eligibility from 60 percent to 80 to 85 percent for students to appear in the IIT Joint Entrance Examination.
The minister made the comments while chairing a meeting of the IIT Council here.
The minister on Tuesday said reports of an HRD ministry proposal for a new system under which only high-scoring class 12 students will be allowed to sit for the entrance exams to professional courses were baseless because only the IITs can decide admission criteria.
At the IIT Council meeting, the minister said he also wanted to get rid of professional coaching for medical and engineering exams.

I just tried to say that in bihar students has to undergo the exams regularly without a break like CBSE board offers break of three or four days between two subjects. They have to face questions not only for 12th standard but also of 11th standard. Any laborious guy can score very much like 60% to 65% but 80 % is too tough.

One thing which is to be noticed..
On one side ,Sibbal Ji have removed Class 10th boards..and other side he want the students to score above 80 % in XII boards..
10th boards were removed to nullify the board exam tension..now will the target of 80 % not add to Tension in the mind of students ?
I mean,How can both the theories be of one person ? arent both of these contradicting ?
