The Common Admission Test popularly known as CAT—the gateway to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs)—this year too was dominated by engineering students with all those scoring 100 percentile in CAT 2010 coming from engineering streams.
Eight candidates, all of them male with engineering background, got 100 percentile while 19 candidates, also engineers—of which two are females—scored a near perfect 99.9 percentile.
Almost 1.8 lakh candidates wrote the CAT exam in 2010.
“Of the eight who got 100 percentile, two are from Mumbai and one each from Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, and Indore. Of the 19 who scored 99.9 percentile, two are females from Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, said Himanshu Rai, convener of CAT 2010.
Institutes will now call students for group discussions, personal interviews and essay writing based on cut-offs declared by them.
