I don't think its a good step. It will reduce quality. If a woman is able enough, she can hersef become member. even 5 out of 5 can be women, if they are capable. Reservation is stupidity.

Its an insult for all the womans of this country as this shows that they lack something which a man possess or rather it shows they can never match to the man's level and for which they require these kind of assistance....
Also there is a proposal of reservation of womans in lok sabha(one-third)
But is there any place in India which gurantees a position for mens...
What if someday there are more than 50% womans in Lok sabha ?? Is anyone going to complain ??
I am not saying that men's shud prevail every-where but instead everything shud be chosen on the basis of merit...
if womens are skilled, talented etc then why one instead all five directors shud be women.
Womans today are growing almost at par with man in almost all fields....when all are saying men and women shud hv equal rights then why to make difference between them by offering such reservation....it shows womens in India are still under-skilled......

Yes , as a woman when I see such remarks it definetely pains me. But folks see the reality before making such comments.
There have been some sarcastic remarks for reservation of SC/ST. I was also one of the members like you in my teens questioning the reservation policies of the Government. But now as a matured person I can definitely understand the reason and can also convince anyone that RESERVATION FOR backward community is very much justified.
You are seeing the urban culture where there is not much discrimination against SC/STs. Rather they misuse the benefit given to them which in fact makes us feel that Government is wrong in extending the Reservation Policy. In many cases we abuse the Government that this is done for VOTE GAIN. May be they do it for vote gain, but my dear friends, go to villages and small towns and you will know what they are and how they are treated?
Being Purohit's daughter I have always seen that these people are never respected, even today they are not allowed inside our houses. For the past 25 years my family has been in metro but the thinking of elders have not changed, rather it has perculated to next generation also. If this is so in metro, think of villages and small towns.
We people may be financially week but are always respected. We don't have any inferiority feelings. But those minority community people have always been subjected to ill treatment and disgrace and their family background never allow them to think broadly and freely. I have seen my daughter's friends (who are in college) always asking if there won't be any issue if they come to our house. Never such question come to our mind? Just because they are born in lower community does it mean that they are inferior.
Again due to the continued harrassment for years, they definitely need to get CONTINUED RESERVATION not only for another 10 or 20 years but till the time we all say that we all are ONE INDIANS.
But one thing we need to assure is that the benefit of RESERVATION must reach all the deserving candidates and not restricted to select urban people only. If the benefit doesn't reach the bottom then it will not achieve the real purpose for which it was extended.
Now raising voices against WOMEN RESERVATION in BOARD ROOMS or for that matter even in PARLIAMENT- How many of you really share the family chores? Women already have RESERVATION in major areas viz.,Household work, Kitchen, Children, etc. Then how do you expect them to come upto BOARD ROOM level without RESERVATION. Mind you dear, without a woman, you would not be sitting in the BOARD ROOM. Women are not less intelligent nor are they incapable. She puts her FAMILY BEFORE ANYTHING and that only prevents her from reaching THE BOARD ROOM.
Come on. from now onwards you share the family responsibility equally and then see for yourself the heights the WOMEN reach? Probably you may then need RESERVATIONS. Few SUCCESSFUL WOMEN ENTREPRENUERS like Chandra Kochar, Indira Nooyi, Kiran Mazumdar, etc. are probably blessed with SUCH COUNTERPARTS. I wish more WOMEN to be blessed with such life partner. I would definitely say I am one of the blessed ones and that's why I am here expressing my views very freely and openly.
Friends, it's only my reaction to your comments.
