For exam purpose prepare that syllabus mentioned by ICAI

rules says follow your teacher. So you should do it.and further check the recent examination papers and see the type of question institute has asked.this will help you to understand to what extent you should study these topics.
Wese got to say M.K sir teaches very well.I too have been his student but the irony is when he left the topics they came in my exams and now he is tellling you to study and you have doubt if it will come or not ;)
MK Gupta Sir VAT karate hue pehle 2 Questions Exise & Custom Duty wale karate hain.
In such questions there is simple treatment of Exise & Custom Duty. However neither they dont come in exam nor they are in syllabus but you cant do it as they are not difficult and ultimately i you will gain extra knowledge and haan, ICAI ka koi bharosa nai....may be exam main aa jaye, so b prepared !!
