ICWA
The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India, trains professionals in the field of cost and management accountancy. These professionals facilitate strategic management decision in respect of economic activities of an organisation. ICWA is the only professional body specialising in the field of cost and management accountancy in India. Students right after 10+2 are eligible to appear for the exams.
Course: The syllabus has been revised and new syllabus constitutes of two group discussions, two seminars and 50 computer hours along with the eight intermediate papers. It is mandatory to clear all eight of them, before one can appear for the finals.
In the finals along with the eight papers; dissertation (5000 words), computer (100 hours), modular training (15 days), audit / industrial training (6 months) is included. 10+2 candidates have to complete the foundation course of the institute to join the intermediate course. Held twice in a year in the month of June and December, the examinations are conducted at various centers in the country and also at three Overseas Centres – Dubai, Sultanate of Oman and Botswana for overseas students.
Job Prospects: Successful students can find viable opportunities in various public and private organisations as managing director, finance director, financial controller, accountant, cost controller, finance manager, chief internal auditor, etc.
CFA
Chartered Financial Analysts are specialists of the finance field and always have a distinct advantage over their counterparts.
Course: Conducted by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI), the programme to become a CFA is a three-year post graduate programme, which is opted by both fresh students and existing professionals. This programme can be studied through correspondence. The admission is through an entrance test and the course comprises of everything related to financial analysis.
