Soon after “the wonderful qualification” in the hands of the candidates; most of the fresh Chartered Accountants find difficult to get absorbed either in the industry or in the practice.
The reason being a large number of fresh Chartered Accountants come from small villages, towns or small cities. In many big cities also there is no organized work culture parallel to the work of qualified accountants. Due to this also; most of them are not able to get good exposure during their articleship training.
Till the qualification was not in their hands; passing CA was a major concern. But soon after the qualification; shocking news for them is: The reality is different than the prospects shown to them by their peers (Friends, Relatives and Coaching Classes).
The majority of the subjects which they learnt during their studies of CA; already become outdated by the time they clear the exams!
The most important point to note is:
A very successful Chartered Accountant is expert in one field only and that’s enough for good earning and identity in the society.
(Every legend is expert in one field only).
There are various certification courses which are being run by the ICAI. These are IFRS, Valuation, Internal Audit, DIRM, International Taxation,DISA, Arbitration, MBA in Finance, etc.

All these areas have emerged in the accounting profession due to global economic developments. Here economic development does not mean “THE GROWTH” all the time. When the economy is in slack mode; risk management becomes very important which further gives immense scope for professional work.
My humble request to fresh CAs and Other Members is to get expertise into one or two fields in which they are really interested and/or in the areas which are their strength (to understand them in depth).
By joining any of such courses; they may find easy access to big accounting firms and/or business houses or to commence their own practice.
While pursuing such courses; it would also be interesting for them to interact with members residing in different cities who come to join such courses.
To some extent; what they could not develop during their articleship; the same can be recouped here. The major gain from such certification courses would be to “DEVELOP VISION ABOUT THE ACCOUNTING PROFESSION.”
Further; to understand how recently CA profession has expanded its wings into various directions; one may refer my file shared at CAclub.

SIXER ON THE LAST BALL:
If one is EXPERT in any “FIELD;” the “GROUND” is too SMALL to score him a SIX !
