Exam time is considered to be the most stressful part of a Student’s life and especially for CA Students as there is high pressure to perform. A CA Student should be a real hard & smart worker. Failures in previous examination attempts should not deter from the path of becoming a Chartered Accountant.
“Quitters Never Win and Winners Never Quit”.
Here are some tips that can help Students to face their exams confidently:
PLANNING: “If you fail to Plan, you plan to fail."
a. Invest in a good Scanner as it will help you to get familiar with the important topics/chapters and thus you can do your chapter planning accordingly.
b. Plan your studies in terms of the reference books you will be using for your studies. Selection of correct reference book is very important as changing books at the last moment will leave you confused. Stick to one book and do it thoroughly.
c. Buy exam oriented notes /handbooks for last day revision in advance. It is not possible to go through the whole reference books on the day before the exam. It is better to do your final revision from these exam oriented notes/handbooks.
d. Highlight the important/critical topics . It is not possible to go through each & every topic before the exam, so on the day before exam you can just read these highlighted points.
DESIGN A STUDY PLAN
a. By making a time table, you can study efficiently and minimize your stress. It has been rightly said that “Rome was not built in a day” so you should plan your study schedule in advance to avoid last moment panic attacks.
b. Budget your time realistically and set clear and attainable goals as that will make you feel confident.
c. Study 2-3 different subjects each day to prevent boredom. Make a combination of one theory & one practical subject and you can also plan to do one Accounting Standard daily in this way you can cover all the Accounting Standard in a month without putting much effort.
LEARN TO COPE WITH STRESS:
a. Make realistic study plan of 8-9 hours and don’t over exert yourself.
b. Take proper sleep of six/seven hours as a healthy mind needs a healthy body.
c. Have a small (45 minutes) exercise schedule, to keep mind and body at peace.
d. Keep time for friends & family as you can’t study for 24 hours.
e. Take small breaks during your study schedule. Avoid watching TV in these breaks, as the breaks can get longer and distractive.
f. Don’t let stress eat your current useful time.
STRATEGIES FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS:
a. Answer all questions.
b. Answer the questions with highest marks first.
c. Do not spend too long on one question.
d. Allow time to recheck your answer.
e. Complete the exam and do not get stuck with a difficult question, leave it and complete rest of the paper.
f. Finally, do not discuss the paper with your friends. Go home and study for the next paper.
