Enterprise Information System is a challenge for many CA aspirants due to its language and some amount of technicalities involved. I strongly recommend to adopt the following strategy to prepare for Enterprise Information System (EIS) i.e. paper 7A of CA Intercourse:
a. It is to be noted that EIS is a 50-mark paper and not a 100-mark paper. For preparing EIS, smart study (and not hard study) will help a CA aspirant.
b. As announced by ICAI, from May 2019 attempt, the question paper pattern of the paper 7A (Enterprise Information System) would be 30% objective and 70% descriptive.
c. So for EIS exam, 15 marks for MCQs and 35 marks for question answers.
d. Please note that smart study requires you to grab all the 15 marks associated with MCQs. In no case, you should be get less than 10 marks.
e. Please note that MCQs will be designed from ICAI module only. Nothing will be outside the module.
f. If you are not comfortable with ICAI module (some students find it dry and boring) we recommend following materials. These materials are derived from ICAI module but language is very simple and lucid. These books have retained the Key terms and language as used in ICAI module:
- CA Intermediate - Enterprise Information System (Ist Edition) - Published by Notion Press
- CA Intermediate - EIS & SM - Published by Swapnil Patni's classes
- Student's Guide for EIS & SM - Published by Paduka
g. If you are using any other book, please ensure that it is designed on the basis of ICAI module. Key terms and definition should be as per ICAI module.
h. Attempt as many MCQs as possible. This is key to success for EIS. However, please ensure that MCQs are prepared on the basis of ICAI Module. There are many online mock test available. One of them is www.caintereis.blogspot.in.
i. To study for descriptive questions, please do not rely on ICAI module only. CA aspirant should understand what to write and what not. Without proper guidance, you may end up writing 2 page of answer for a 5-mark question. This is complete waste of time. It is advisable to use of any of the above mentioned book along with ICAI module. All the above mentioned books, will help CA aspirants about how much and what to write for descriptive questions.
