Year after year the professional examination are held and many students are unable to get through. The reasons could be many:

1.       the high level of evaluation,

2.        the wide coverage of the syllabus,

3.       too much reading of study material as well as other books,

4.       inadequate time for preparation,

5.       over dependence on / emphasis on attending coaching classes only,

6.       not understanding some subjects too well,

7.       confusing question paper,

8.       out of syllabus questions,

9.       out of study material question

10.   …many many more

The student is an important part of any professional organization. He/ she may find that something is not right in the system, be it the syllabus, study material, papers, evaluation system [ as imagined]. A responsible student would like to bring it to the notice of the organization which should implement the suggestions to enhance itself if convinced that the issue raised is genuine. Last year based on several feedback from the potential employers, practicing CAs, students, examiners and council members several initiative were taken up: updated study material, 15 minutes time, choice being reintroduced, focus slowly being shifted from retention to understanding.

The students blaming the body only degrade themselves as no action is capable of being taken by friends who may be in the same helpless position who may only repeat what you have said. Communicating / getting rid of the anger by sharing anguish is fine to feel better/ lighter.

But if results are required students may communicate their issues whether on the paper, study material, syllabus, to the ICAI – Board of Studies as well as Examination Section. There are many loyal officers who would examine the complaint/ suggestion and action would happen as it did last year.

Start off by communicating responsibly from today.
