ESIC is a self-financing scheme where both employers and employees contribute to the fund. The scheme is designed to provide financial protection to employees in case of sickness, maternity, disablement, or death due to employment injury. It also offers medical benefits to insured persons and their families. The ESIC Act applies to certain establishments with a specified number of employees.

Eligibility Criteria for Enrollment in the ESIC

  • ESIC registration is compulsory for organizations employing more than 10 (in some states, it is 20 employees).
  • Maximum basic wages/salary limit for coverage is Rs. 21,000 per month (Rs. 25,000 per month for persons with disabilities).
  • Employers contribute 3.25% of the total monthly wage payable to employees.
  • Employees contribute 0.75% of their monthly wage each month throughout the year.
  • Mandatory registration with ESIC within 15 days from the scheme's applicability for eligible employers.

Documents Required for ESIC Scheme

  • Registration Certificate Obtain under either the Factories Act or Shops and Establishment Act. For companies - Certificate of Company Registration. For partnership firms - Partnership deed. GST certificate of the establishment.
  • Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association for companies.
  • Utility bills (electricity, gas, or telephone, not exceeding three months). Rental agreement for the establishment's land. Property tax receipts for the land.
  • A list of all employees working in the establishment. PAN cards of both the business establishment and its employees.
  • Information on the compensation of all employees.
  • Cancelled cheque of the company's bank account.
  • List of directors and shareholders of the company.
  • A register containing the attendance records of employees.
 

ESIC Online Registration

ESIC Online Registration Process are:

  • Click on the 'Sign Up' button.

  • Fill in the required details in the sign-up form and submit.

  • Receive a confirmation email with username and password on the registered email and mobile number.
  • Log in as an employer on the ESIC portal using the provided credentials.
  • Select 'New Employer Registration' after logging in.
  • Choose the 'Type of Unit' from the drop-down list and click 'Submit.'
  • Fill in details on 'Employer Registration – Form 1' regarding unit, employer, establishment, and employees.
  • Click 'Submit' after completing the Form-1.
  • After form submission, receive a prompt to pay initial contribution.
  • Select 'Online' option, click 'Submit,' and note the 'Challan Number.'
  • On the payment gateway page, choose the mode of payment and enter the amount.
  • Receive a system-generated Registration Letter (C-11) via email with a 17-digit Registration Number.
  • The Registration Letter (C-11) serves as a valid proof of employer registration with ESIC.

ESIC Employer login process

  • Go to the official ESIC website
  • On the left side of the screen, locate and click on the 'Services' option.
  • From the Services menu, select 'Employer.'
  • Within the Employer section, find and click on 'Employer Portal.'

  • Input your username and password in the provided fields.
  • Complete the 'Captcha' verification.
  • After entering your credentials and completing the Captcha, click on the 'Login' button to access your ESIC employer account.

ESIC Employee login process

  • Go to the ESIC Login Portal.
  • On the left side of the screen, click on 'Services.' Within the Services menu, select 'Employee' and then click on 'IP Portal.'

  • As the Employee Portal is an external page, your browser may ask for permission to redirect you. Grant permission to proceed.
  • On the Employee Portal page, input your username and password again. Ensure 'Insured Person' is selected.Complete the 'Captcha' verification.

  • After entering your credentials and completing the Captcha, click on the 'Login' button to access your ESIC employee account.
