Hi Diksha. Hearty congratulations from CAclubindia on securing AIR-1 in CA Intermediate Nov 22 exams. So, how do you feel, Diksha?
I'm very happy. It was an amazing moment when ICAI President called me up to inform that I had secured AIR-1 in Nov 22 CA Intermediate Exams.
How was your preparation for your CA Intermediate Exams?
I was having my CA Foundation examination in the month of December 2021. I started preparing for the intermediate directly from January without waiting for the results. So, from January to June, I completed whole of my syllabus that is of 8 subjects. From July, I started with the revision and I was having examination in November for CA Intermediate Nov 22.
So, Diksha, how did you plan your day?
Up to June, I had 9 hours of classes - 3 hours of 3 lectures, then 4 to 5 hours of self-revision. So, eventually, I studied for 13-14 hours in a single day.
Okay, so you used ICAI material as the basis to study?
Yes, for most of the subjects I used ICAI material. But for some particular subjects like Taxation, I referred to my faculty’s books.
Were you also doing your articleship in the same time?
No, ma'am. I have my articleship tenure from the month of February.
So Diksha, you passed your CA Foundation and came to IPCC! So how did you prepare for your foundation at that time? How was it different from your preparation from foundation to intermediate?
I did preparation for CA Foundation by myself. I completed the whole syllabus within two and a half months and then revised for two months. This was my revision strategy of CA foundation.
What are the subjects that you faced difficulty with while studying CA Intermediate? How do you suggest the upcoming students to study for those exams?
I found practical subjects more convenient as compared to theoretical ones. So, I gave more importance to theoretical subjects and tried to convert my weakness into strength. Hence, I revised the theory subjects for a minimum of 7 to 8 times.
Were you expecting a rank?
Ma'am, I was targeting not expecting. I strived at securing AIR-1 from the beginning and eventually came up with this.
So, how was your strategy? Did you solve a lot of question papers or RTPs? How was your strategy to crack AIR-1?
Yes, multiple revisions and mock test papers are the key to success. Infact, I utilized the whole of August month for mock test papers only and attempted near about 10 to 20 papers.
Okay, so what was your parents' reaction to securing AIR-1?
They were very happy and the feeling is yet to sink in!!
Whom do you dedicate this success to?
I would dedicate this success to my parents and teachers - especially my mother. She was my role model and my support system.
Are you also doing your graduation along with this?
Yes, ma'am. I am doing my B.Com honors from Delhi University.
How did you manage along with Intermediate and B.Com?
I prepared myself for graduation studies in the month of examination only and gave a little less importance to it.
How are you preparing for your CA Final? Have you started already?
No, ma'am. Because it is up to three years, so I haven’t yet prepared for the same!
What would be your suggestion to the upcoming students preparing for May 2023 exams? How do you give them your advice on studying?
I would suggest them to give more importance to theoretical subjects, be focused, practice a lot of mock test papers, refer to the ICAI study materials and revise as much as possible.
What is your opinion on the New CA syllabus?
It is nice! Articleship period has now been reduced from three years to two years. I found it much convenient for the people who are not going for practice and for job. In case of the practice candidates, they have to be there for 3 years of articleship only. Those going for job – it’s convenient for them also, as the period has been reduced from 5 years to 4 years. So, yes, it has become quite convenient and easy.
Thank you so much Disha for this wonderful interaction and your time and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Thanks a lot!
