Constant jiggling between past and future

Everyone must have heard a quote, "Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future but today is the gift. That's why it's called the present. Reading quotes or motivational articles are not enough. Bringing change within us and our mentality is the only way to change our life.

Every human has one thing in common which is a desire for a happy life. We want less anxiety, stress and unhappiness. But the problem is that most desirous thing happiness is least available. The reason is not as complicated as it seems, the only reason behind this is focusing on past and future rather than present.

However confused youngsters move their thoughts restlessly from past to future. A series of thoughts follow us from our past, it may be a very happy moment or a sad trauma that gives us pain in present.

Most of us kill our time by thinking about our future, which leads us to nowhere. Future is only dependent on the acts that we do in present, but sadly we fail to focus on that.

Constant jiggling between past and future

At the end of day, when we rest on our beds physically, our mind is still jiggling those thoughts. A photogenic memory runs in our head like a movie that begins with an attractive origin and ends with giving us pain and sorrow. Our imperfect past gives us valuable experiences and lessons.

One of the best things about humans is that we talk to ourselves, our internal voice rarely shuts and gives us different instructions. We can beautifully control it by surrounding ourselves with positivity and purposeful life.

Do you even remember, when was the last time before going to bed you were relaxed with no sorrow of past or no worries of future?

Maybe in this hasty world, everyone has forgotten to sit and appreciate the things they have around them. We do not even have time to notice what resources we presently have. We are only so busy in collecting those resources but do not have time to enjoy them.

Art of living is to live in present. Everything in life comes with an expiry date whether it's a relationship, thing or ourselves. Surrounding yourself with positive and supportive people will increase your happiness level. It will allow you to focus on what is going well right instead of dwelling on past or future events. If you want to focus on the present, you need to let go of how things have been before and accept the fact that you cannot change them. You cannot control everything that happens around you, sometimes life is going to be different than how we want it to be. Acceptance is the only thing that will help you let go of things that are out of your control. One way of this is to write those things that you can appreciate in present rather than being focused on things that you don't have.

We all have made mistakes, bad choices, been rejected, taken advantage of, nobody has a past that is untainted and imperfect. Imperfection is what makes humans beautiful.

Running towards the future with a mind full of the past will lead us to nowhere. A day enjoyed beautifully with all works done productively will make you more self-satisfied and happy.
