It’s hard to match the personality of one with the other. Even though its difficult to match, its interesting to know how a personality of a person is judged. Is it his external appearance? Or is it the internal levels of a person? Or is it both put together? Let’s try to analyze the intricacies of the same. Personality is basically how a person behaves, feels, thinks and portrays himself. It depends upon his state of mind. According to Bhagvad Geetha, the undisciplined mind acts as one’s enemy whereas a trained mind acts as one’s friend. The mind has the most fascinating memory that any software has in a word of computers. It is proved that a mind can be compared to something more than a computer. It has inbuilt software by itself. But the point is, it has to be trained and exercised for its efficiency. For example, supposing your old friend comes and talks to you after a period of ten years, your mind starts asking questioning as to who it was and answers to all your questions within a fraction of a second. Finally you respond to the same. In this process the mind has performed the following four functions:
(1) Memory
(2) Deliberations and conceptualizations
(3) Determination and Decision making
(4) “I” consciousness.
The mind keeps thinking of so many things at a time. Its an ongoing process of a mind trying to analyze many things, both good and bad. But it is only how we train and regulate from bad to good, good to better and better to best. To regulate ones mind in oneself is the true spirit of “Meditation”. Meditation is the stillness within one’s soul. It is a gradual process of attaining the excellence of a very calm and processed way of thinking apart from the real world. It’s also proved to be one of the best ways to keep up ones health away from diseases. A healthy person thinks positive whereas an unhealthy person thinks negative. The negative thoughts can be overcome with the help of meditation. Meditation is like a charioteer and the mind is a chariot. It’s a charioteer who leads the chariot in a right path. So, we can say that both the external appearance (body) and the internal levels of a man (i.e. mind) contributes to the personality of the person. It depends on an individual how he puts himself to attain the strokes of efficiency in this competitive world.
