Introduction

The most latest Pay Commission was instituted in 2014, and its recommendations were implemented in 2016. Presently, the salaries of central government employees and pensioners are structured according to the guidelines and adjustments put forth by the 7th Pay Commission.

The 7th Pay Matrix Table consists of 760 cells and is a single table applicable to over 30 lakh employees. The table has 19 columns representing functional roles and 40 rows indicating pay progression within each level. The horizontal range is numbered 1 to 18, corresponding to the hierarchy, while the vertical range signifies pay progression with an annual financial increment of 3.00% within each level. The starting point of the table represents the minimum pay based on the 15th Indian Labor Conference norms or the Aykroyd formula.
