  • Mehera Arjani says : Is salary paid to a foreigner in india taxable?
Dear Mr Joglekar, You very kindly sent me a response. Let me clarify. My friend completes a UK tax return annually, the salary was paid in £ Sterling, and not received in India, but in his UK bank account. The income is declared on the UK tax return and will be assessed in the UK according to the UK tax laws, but he was resident in India so is there a requirement to complete a tax return in this country as well for the 2011-2012 tax year? I am a retired UK income tax officer and worked for HMRC for 25 years before returning to India, so I have a very good and extensive knowledge of UK tax laws, but not the Indian tax laws, hence the query. If you don't mind, could you send me a response directly to my email address, meherarjani@yahoo.co.uk? I would be much obliged, as I can then forward the same to the gentleman in the UK. Thanking you for your help, Best wishes, Mehera Arjani.

****Welcome to all experts to join in discussion **** I have a case about a an Investment (private limited )company which maintaining books of account on mercantile basis. But company records income on receipt basis from April to Feb and in the month of march a consolidate receivable from April to Feb is recorded and for month of march on receivable basis. my question is that is this practice of following cash basis accounting for 11 month and in March remaining receivable on consolidate basis i.e.(receivable less received) and for only month of march on pure receivable basis is Correct ??? Means following cash basis accounting for 11 months and Accrual basis accounting in month of march is correct or it will be treated as hybrid system. Is there any clarification from ICAI or Department for following accrual basis accounting through out the year? Pls join in discussion
